Warwick slimmer Nikki wins district finals

SHE did it! On Sunday super slimmer Nikki Balsom won the Warwickshire and West Midlands District finals of a dieting competition that had more than 40,000 other potential candidates.

Now the bubbly mother-of-two from Warwick - who went from 20 stone 4lbs to 12 stone 5lbs, is busy preparing for the national semi-finals of Slimming World’s Woman of the Year competition.

Local dieting consultant Angie Jenkins thinks the judges’ hearts were touched by Nikki’s story of how her seven-year-old son Taylor unwittingly encouraged her by saying he could finally get his arms round her waist for a big hug.

Nikki, aged 31, piled on the pounds after her younger son Jayden was born two years ago,

She said: “I still can’t believe I won the district finals against so much competition. Angie and I both got a bit tearful.”

Now Nikki and her partner Graham are looking forward to the national semi finals on October 7 in Derby. If successful there, Nikki is in with a chance of winning a family holiday on the Caribbean island of St Lucia.
