PLATEFULS of a little happiness have been delivered to a slum school in Kenya after being designed by youngsters in Warwick who attached £2 coins and wrote personalised messages to their African recipients.
Paul Rowell, from the Coventry-based charity Global Care, visited Warwick Preparatory School to explain about a project aimed at providing two nutritious meals a day for a month for children being educated in Kiberia, Kenya.
For every £3 raised as part of the scheme, a child would be fed, said Mr Rowell, who was due to fly out to deliver the plates and see how the project was going.
Teacher Deborah Ward said: “By designing a plate, the children were putting something of themselves into each donation and it really helped them to connect with those who are not so fortunate. We had some fantastic designs featuring colourful pictures and harvest prayers and the children were extremely thoughtful in their messages on the back of each plate.”
