Unprovoked assault outside Leamington chip shop

POLICE are appealing for witnesses to an apparently unprovoked assault in Leamington town centre late on Sunday.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was sitting on the steps of a chip shop in Tavistock Street at about 11.30pm when he was punched to the face.

The blow caused him to bang his head against a wall causing a significant cut to his head.

The attacker is described as a white male, 5ft 10ins to 6ft tall, of medium build, in his mid-thirties, wearing a light blue jacket and with a gold earring in his right ear.

Officers believe the assault was entirely unprovoked and are appealing for any witnesses who can help them identify the attacker to contact Pc Simon Osborne on 684170 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
