Transport assistant campaigners want 5,000 names on petition by Thursday

PARENTS campaigning to keep transport assistants on school buses are asking people to sign a petition before the deadline on Thursday.

The petition has 4,100 names already which means the case to keep the assistants and to reinstate those who have already been removed from school buses will be presented to a meeting of Warwickshire County Council in the near future.

But a further 900 signatures would mean councillors having to debate the issue.

The council is currently reviewing the positions of transport assistants on buses serving 22 schools throughout the county.
