See “fantastic” showcase by young people in Leamington

YOUNG people are showcasing their artistic talents at a mini festival in Leamington next week.

Participants in Hybrid Arts’ learning programme will bring live music, fashion shows and market stalls selling plants, clothing, interior goods, art, photography and music to Spencer Yard on Thursday afternoon.

There will also be live art demonstrations by the teenagers, including t-shirt screen printing and music mixing. Refreshments will be available, including tea and locally baked cakes.

Hybrid Arts, an arts and enterprise training provider, has been working closely with young people in Warwickshire for nine years, supporting some of the most vulnerable and disenfranchised families.

Director Stella Carr said: “At a time when things are really tough out there for young people, who arguably are being hardest hit by the recession, it is important we demonstrate real support and confidence in the local youth community, showcasing all the fantastic things they have been doing and big achievements they have worked hard for.

“Over the years we have developed a reputation for high quality, innovative and exciting creative learning that brings about real engagement, real support and real change in the lives of those we work with, their families and the wider community.”

Co-director Tim Ellis added: “We have achieved this through hard work and by maintaining hard skins in times of political flux. Our passion for making change and our belief in the value of turning young people’s lives around makes it all worthwhile.”

The event takes place from 4pm to 7pm. To find out more, call 886188 or go online.
