OLYMPIC sports week at Coten End Primary School expanded to include not only archery but climbing, golf and a variety of Paralympic events including blind football, goalball, seated volleyball and Boccia.
Among the special guests was Nigel Murray, the British Paralympian and medal-winning Boccia player who talked about his love of sport.
Dee Alder, a teacher with year four, said: “Nigel told the children all about his experiences and they went on to try several events. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the challenges which the new sports presented and demonstrated Paralympic values whilst playing them.”
Archery coaches Terry Harvey and Aaron Daniel from Elite Sports in Coventry spent an afternoon at the school offering tips to all the youngsters who found the scaled-down versions of traditional English longbows took some handling but were great for hitting the target.
