Positive inspection report for Warwick Hospital

WARWICK Hospital is meeting all of its essential standards of quality and safety, an official inspection has found.

The unannounced two-day inspection carried out by the Care Quality Commission recently looked at 17 different areas including nutrition, staffing levels, cleanliness and patient safety.

The commission’s inspectors spoke to patients and received positive comments about the care and treatment provided by the hospital.

One patient said: “I cannot complain about the care on this ward.

“The staff have been very helpful.”

Another said: “Everyone comes in and makes you feel good and comfortable; the staff nurse was lovely.”

Glen Burley, chief executive at South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We have a fantastic team of staff who deliver excellent care every day and I am delighted that the Care Quality Commission’s inspection has recognised this.

“It is a true accolade that the patients involved were so positive about the quality of care we provide.

“While we will continue to strive to do even better, I would like to thank our staff for currently delivering an excellent service.”

Mr Burley has also been shortlisted for Chief Executive of the Year in the Health Service Journal’s 31st annual awards.

He joined as chief executive in 2006 and has moved the Trust from a difficult period into one with a bright future.

His nomination was supported by members of staff from across the organisation who put forward their thoughts about his leadership, which formed the evidence.

The entry was judged on attributes such as leadership and management skills.

Mr Burley said: “I thoroughly enjoy my role as chief executive due to the commitment and hard work of every member of staff.

“I am delighted to be shortlisted for this award and would like to thank staff for helping us provide excellent services for our local population.”
