Portas team organises festive Old Town event

OLD Town’s Portas Pilot team will have achieved more than half of its goals by this time next year, its leader has said.

The team received its £100,000 payment from the Government’s town rejuvenation project about a week ago and has set about organising a number of events aimed at bringing together business owners and residents and boosting trade in the area.

Jeremy Ireland, the team’s leader, said: “We’ve got some good strategies in place for the next three to six months.

“We think that in the next 12 months we will have achieved at least 60 per cent of what we had planned.”

The team has organised a festive event, which will take place in and around Regent Place, Bath Street and Clemens Street, on Sunday December 2.

It will include craft and food stalls, street performers and live music.

Entertainers can contact the team if they want to take part.

For more information about the project and forthcoming events call 07968 742102 or find Mary Portas Bid South Leamington Old Town on Facebook.
