Police commissioner candidate for Tories
CONSERVATIVES in Warwickshire have chosen a former police authority chairman and special constable as their candidate to lead the county’s police force.
Voters will have the chance to elect police commissioners in November and the Tory candidate to head Warwickshire Police Authority will be former police authority chairman Fraser Pithie.
A former parish council chairman in Welford-on-Avon, where he was born, he spent more than 500 hours on the beat with police officers as a Warwickshire County Councillor and member of Warwickshire Police Authority.
Mr Pithie, who now lives in Kenilworth, left public office in 1997 to concentrate on his career at water company Severn Trent, before serving as a special constable for eight years from 2001.
Praising the current force’s work, he pledged to develop more innovation and business-based approaches to keep police council tax bills to a minimum, adding: “My years as a Special Constable provided me with invaluable experience working alongside front line officers in all situations.
“I want to use my career experience, listen to the people of Warwickshire and work with the police to continuously improve the service they provide with the resources they have.”
