Peaceful reaction to anti-Islam controversy

AN American-made film that depicts the Prophet Muhammad and has angered Muslims around the world has been condemned by the Leamington branch of the Ahmadiyya Muslim Youth Association.

The branch’s youth leader Zafar Bhatti said: “The film represents a grossly unprincipled use of the right to freedom of speech and a flagrant attempt to incite the emotions of a large proportion of the world.

“The Prophet Muhammad is the most beloved and revered person for well over 1.6 billion inhabitants of world.

“To attack his noble life and character, or that of any of the founders of the world’s great religions, in such a vile manner is both reprehensible and clearly calculated.”

But Mr Bhatti emphasised that the association did not condone the riots that have taken place - during which dozens of people have died - in Pakistan and other predominantly Muslim countries.

He added that in Leamington, people are invited to attend seminars held by the association about their following of Muhammad.
