LOUD cheers greeted town crier Graham Sutherland when he announced glad tidings to all 1,200 boys at Warwick School.

As it turned out it was a historic, centenary visit by the Warwick town crier - his predessors in the job have been ringing out the news at the school since 1912.

Mr Sutherland, who has been doing the job himself for the past 26 years, said: “It used to be the announcement of an extra half day’s holiday - now I announce a whole extra week off at half-term. I followed up my good news with an appeal for donations for Help for Heroes and raised £254.11.”
