Oakley Wood sexual assault investigation: appeal to trace driver
POLICE investigating an alleged sexual assault near Oakley Wood, Wellesbourne at the weekend are trying to trace a driver who came to the aid of the victim.
The 25-year-old woman was driven to Oakley Wood early on Saturday, where three men already in the car are alleged to have sexually assulted her.
The woman was left by the roadside near the top of Wasperton Lane where it is believed a passing motorist came to her rescue and, at her request, gave her a lift to Fenny Compton, dropping her off near The Wharf pub.
It is believed that the driver who helped the woman is male and that the car is dark in colour.
He would have picked the woman up some time after 1am and dropped her off about 20 minutes later.
Det Con Jennifer Gee would like to speak to this driver as he may have vital clues to help establish what had happened earlier in the night.
Another motorist who took the woman from Fenny Compton to her home in Northampton has already been identified.
Anyone with information should call the local investigation team at Leamington by calling Warwickshire Police on 101 or 415000.
