MASKED robbers assaulted an elderly couple before stealing a wedding ring at a home in Leamington yesterday (Monday).

Police are appealing for witnesses following the robbery at the home in Lillington Road, which occurred at around 10pm.

Four men, all with their faces covered, forced their way into the house and subjected the elderly couple to an assault as they demanded to know if they had any valuables in the house.

The only item believed to have been stolen during the robbery was the woman’s gold wedding ring, which they forced her to remove during the terrifying ordeal.

All four assailants drove away in a dark-coloured car following the robbery.

A car, believed to be the one used by the four men, was later found abandoned in the Tesco’s carpark in Solihull.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious or out of the ordinary in Lillington Road, Leamington, between 10pm and 10.15pm on Monday night, and would also like to hear from anyone who may have seen anyone with a dark coloured car which arrived at the Tesco carpark in Solihull, near to the junction 4 exit from the M42, at around 10.45pm.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Police Staff Investigator (PSI) Tony Smith at Leamington Police local investigation team on 456911 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 where the information can be given anonymously.

The elderly couple suffered from shock as a result of their ordeal, but thankfully did not receive any serious injuries.
