WORKING mums’ champion Martin Carty has been nominated as a top boss by female employees at his garden maintenance business in Warwick.

The 40-year-old employs four women and three men in the small firm he runs from his home in Albert Street to fit in with his own work-life balance needs as a house-husband.

It’s one of the reasons Martin completely understands the flexible needs of the mothers he employs, who are able to fit their working hours around the needs of their children.

And it’s certainly why he was nominated in both the Working Mums’ Champion and the Top Employer categories in the national competition.

Assistant gardener Debbie Bloomfield has worked for Martin for the past two and a half years and said: “He’s a brilliant boss with lots of good ideas. For instance we don’t need to work during the school holidays even though we still get paid. We just arrange to make up the hours at other times.”

The results will be announced on November 8.
