Leamington pool to close for two months

ONE of Warwick district’s most popular swimming pools is to close for two months this winter.

The main pool, leisure pool and sauna at Newbold Comyn Leisure Centre in Leamington will be out of use later this year to allow for work to replace the centre’s flume and sauna to take place.

The exact dates have not yet been fixed but Chris Charman, sports and leisure manager at Warwick District Council, which runs the centre, said it was likely to be during November and December.

He said: “We need to have certainty around the dates before we can let people know when they will be affected, but I will be writing to all of the direct debit members and regular users when we have completed the contractual processes.

“It is likely that the pool will be closed towards the end of the year, which is our quietest time. We are planning minimal disruption.”

Mr Charman said the work will require the leisure pool to be drained and the main pool to be closed.

He added: “Anyone who usually uses the pool at Newbold Comyn will be very welcome to use the pools at our centres at St Nicholas Park in Warwick and Abbey Fields in Kenilworth.

“We can also suspend membership for those who do not wish to swim elsewhere.”

He added that enrolment for children’s swimming lessons will not be taking place at Newbold Comyn but the council is continuing to offer them at St Nicholas Park and Abbey Fields.

Further details will be published once made available.
