Help us reach out to 1,000 volunteers
DESPITE having an extended family of nearly 950 volunteers, still more offers of help are needed in the three charity shops run in Warwick, Leamington and Kenilworth by Myton Hospice.
Kingsley Hasler, who manages the Myton shop in Brook Street, Warwick, said: “We are always looking for more people who can commit themselves to coming in to help for just a few hours every week.
“If they don’t want to serve behind the counter they can sort stock or perhaps help dress our windows if they have an eye for fashion. It’s also a great way of meeting people and making new friends.”
Regular Warwick helper Sylvia Higgins not only helps behind the counter but she has also become a volunteer driver for the hospice.
Communications officer Sara Revell said: “We can’t thank people like Sylvia and all our other volunteers enough.
“As an organisation we rely quite heavily on community support as in our shops we only employ a manager and an assistant.
“Amazingly we have a total of 947 volunteers as a whole who help with everything from keeping patients’ company to serving dinners and making street collections.
“The best thing to do if people are interested is to pop in to one of our three local shops in either Warwick, or Bedford Street, Leamington, or Warwick Road, Kenilworth and just have a chat.
“Alternatively they can ring 400323 or 492518.”
