Haggis and skirl of pipes at Emscote

PUPILS were piped into their classrooms at Emscote Infants School in Warwick last Friday as part of a Burns Day
celebration.

Scottish teacher Claire Snoddy organised for piper Joe Moore to entertain the children before she told them all about Robert Burns, the famous poet who wrote about a “wee timorous cowering beastie.”

Some of Miss Snoddy’s class also displayed their Scottish dancing skills as Mr Moore switched from pipes to fiddle-playing. Afterwards they enjoyed some cheese on oak cakes washed down with glasses of orange-flavoured Irn Bru. And after a round of Auld Lang Syne the teachers sampled haggis for lunch...but not the traditional whisky.
