Grants for good causes

WARWICK Town Council has approved a grant of £5,000 towards a new IT system for the Leamington-based Citizens’ Advice Bureau which offers outreach services in the town.

The charity needs to replace its present system, which dates back to 2006, and it is hoped other town and district councils will make contributions.

Another grant of £1,200 was made towards Guide Dogs for the Blind, specifically to pay for the charity to operate in five Warwick schools where staff hope to raise awareness of the cost of training animals and encourage more children to become involved in fund-raising.

A further grant of £1,000 was given towards the creation of a new kitchen plus a toilet for the disabled at Warwick Sports Club in Hampton Road which currently has no provision for wheelchair users.
