Get ready for Warwick’s best firework display yet

THEY may say it every year but Warwick Town Bonfire is expected to be bigger and better than ever before thanks to a new website attracting everyone from far and wide.

People living as far away as Liverpool have already booked online tickets while increasing crowds are being drawn from the growing Chase Meadow estate from which people can easily walk to the racecourse venue.

Dave Cooling, chairman of the joint organising committee of Warwick Rotary and Round Table clubs, said: “So many people came last year that we have upped our game with more stewards to help with parking, additional food outlets, a bouncy castle for the children and, above all, more fireworks.”

The clubs have spent £2,500 on the 15-minute display, which will be held on Saturday November 3.

Mr Cooling said: “Last year we raised more than £12,000 for local charities and good causes and so this year, with the help of the website, we are hoping to do even better.”

Children from Newburgh Primary School have been busy making Guys to feed the bonfire, which will be lit at 6.30pm with the fireworks due to start at 6.45pm.

But Round Table member Mr Cooling hopes spectactors will be at the racecourse in Hampton Road long before that.

Rotary spokeswoman Jackie Crampton said: “The doors open at 5pm with free parking at the course where there will be a children’s fun area, hot food, drinks, candyfloss and the bouncy castle.

“We’re grateful to all our sponsors including New Bowling Green pub, Warringtons, and Unipart, who provided pallets for the bonfire.”

Advance tickets, costing £4 for adults and children aged 12 plus, can be purchased from local shops, as well as online. The under 12s, accompanied by adults, are free although on the night prices rise to £5 and £1.

Tickets are available from Torrys, Claridges, Cabin News, Mellors; Warwick vacuum shop, the main post office and the local tourist information centres. They can also be purchased at Woodloes post office and the Coffee Lounge at Chase Meadows or by visiting www.warwicktownbonfire.org.uk
