Farming lessons for schools

Pupils at Ferncumbe Primary School at Hatton, near Warwick, will be learning a lot more about where their food comes from when they help to run a farmers’ market next Friday (March 8).

The youngsters will also add a Mother’s Day theme to the stalls sell up in the playground with the help of children attending neighbouring Northleigh House.

Ferncumbe headteacher Sally Morris said her pupils would be involved in running the market from start to finish and would provide a context for them looking at food chain issues and the need to take
responsibility for what
happens.

The event is being funded by the Central Warwickshire Leader programme together with the Soil Association and Mid-Wales Food and Land Trust - organisations already working with ten schools across Warwickshire.
