Event to help educate people on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender issues

HOMOSEXUAL, bisexual and transgendered people and the issues they face will be the focus of a free educational event in Leek Wootton.

Warwickshire Police, in celebration of LGBT History Month, is hosting the event, with speaker Shaun Dellenty, a deputy headteacher from London, at the former police headquarters in Leek Wootton (postcode CV35 7QA) on Saturday February 23 from 10am to 1pm.

Mr Dellenty, who has been nationally recognised for his ‘Inclusion for all’ campaign, will talk about reducing homophobic behaviour and language in primary-aged children and education-led anti-bullying strategies, as well as the experience of LGBT students in secondary and further education.

Anyone is welcome to attend the event, which will open from 9am, from when people can look at information displays and take refreshments and there will also be a gathering afterwards at the Saxon Mill in Coventry Road, Warwick. Anyone who would like to attend should call 415721.
