Drunken intruder was desperate to gamble
Police removed a drunken man from Ladbrokes in the early hours of this morning after he broke in and gave the excuse he wanted to wait for the shop to open so he could gamble. Picture submitted by Simon Miles.
POLICE arrested a drunken man at a Leamington bookies after he had broken into the shop because he was desperate to place a bet in the early hours of this morning .
Simon Miles, a witness, was walking past Ladbrokes in Warwick Street at about 6.20am when he noticed a pane of glass in the front door of the shop had been smashed.
Mr Miles said: “I called the police and three police cars and six officers arrived within a minute.
“After shining their torches inside one of the officers said there was a man inside the shop.
“An officer spoke to me afterwards and said the man was just sitting inside the shop and he was drunk and had walked past the shop and wanted to gamble.
“As the shop was closed he broke in then was waiting inside until they opened.”
