District council selects new chairman

WARWICK councillor and veteran Cllr Michael Kinson is the new chairman of Warwick District Council.
The Conservative councillor, who represents Warwick West, has served in the army in Sudan, Cyprus, Aden, Yemen, Northern Ireland, Germany, Norway, Denmark and Italy and was made Order of the British Empire in 1990.
Cllr Kinson has lived in Warwick since 1987 and joined both Warwick District and Warwick Town Councils in 2003.
He is a trustee of Hill Close Gardens and a governor at Wathen Road Primary School.
The charities he will raise funds for during his term are Castel Froma – which includes Helen Ley – and Myton Hospice.
Cllr Kinson’s deputy is Cllr Richard Davies (Con, Kenilworth St John’s).
Cllr Michael Doody (Con, Radford Semele) remains leader, as well as having now become chairman of Warwickshire County Council, with Cllr Dave Shilton (Con, Kenilworth Park Hill) being deputy chairman of the county council.
