Could you foster a child?

THERE are 85 foster carers living in Warwick but still a desperate need for more, according to local experts.

Robert Tapsfield, chief executive of the Fostering Network, which manages the service, said that across the West Midlands as a whole there is a need for at least 960 new foster families.

He says too many youngsters fail to get the care they need and have to remain living in children’s homes, or face frequent moves into new situations we leave them with no permanent secure base.

Mr Tapsfield added: “On any one day there are now a record 8,500 children living with foster families in the West Midlands - more families are needed to replace 13 per cent of the workforce who retire or leave every year.”
