MORE than 600 staff at a Warwick company now have the right to wear Queen’s Award lapel badges after the success of an innovative gas boiler.
Jocelynne Rowan, a spokeswoman for Baxi Heating UK, which has its headquarters in Coventry Road, Warwick, said: “When the Lord-Lieutenant of Warwickshire, Martin Dunne, presented us with the trophy at Warwick Castle he told us that innovation was the highest business award companies can get in this country.
“He pointed out that it wasn’t given lightly, but only for real achievement, and that even though our latest boiler was manufactered at our Preston research and development division, the award was given to all 1,541 UK Baxi employees, including the 667 based at our headquarters in Warwick who include administrative workers, technical support and call centre staff.”
The Baxi EcoGen micro-CHP boiler combines the heat and power of an ordinary gas boiler but also generates electricity for use in the home.
