THE popular apple walks at Warwick’s Victorian Hill Close Gardens are to be followed by a tour of the 18 individual plots at 2.30pm next Friday (September 14).
Head gardener Gary Leaver will be happy to answer questions on a variety of horticultural matters and might even be persuaded to offer a few slices some of the fruits that grow in abundance on the old allotments.
But between September 21 and 23 the fruit will take second place to the 40 varieties of Michaelmas daises that should be coming into bloom in time for the annual Aster weekend.
Other events include the annual harvest service on October 7 when admission is free for those just wanting to simply attend the ceremony at 3pm.
This procedes the big date on everyone’s calender which is October 14 when the shoestring staff backed by an army of willing volunteers, host the Apple and Country Crafts Day between 10.30am and 4.30pm.
Last year the event attracted more than 700 adults and children for tours and demonstrations.
