Advice for elderly and disabled on home help at Warwick community centre
A COMMUNITY care awareness day is being held at the GAP Community Centre in Oakwood Grove, Warwick, on Friday, aimed at enabling older people to carry on living in their own homes.
A number of aids and adaptations will be on show and there will be opportunities to find out more about services useful to the less mobile, including home hairdressing, gardening and frozen food deliveries.
The event, organised by Leamington-based home care provider SureCare, will run from 10am until 2pm.
Desiree Lambert, director of SureCare, said: “This is an important event and the first of its kind in Warwick.
“We hope that local people will be able to ask questions and receive information about a variety of services that can improve their quality of life and support their independence.”
Nationally, it has been realised that many pensioners prefer to continue living in their own homes for as long as they are physically able, provided they receive support.
The day will also include information about buying in support, including hiring a personal assistant, as well as home security and financial planning.
