He was made an MBE in January for ‘services to scouting and to young people in Blackpool and Warwickshire’.

Mr Guy had a brief chat with the Prince in which he told him about his 70-year long involvement in scouting and the 55 years of which he has been involved in Gang Shows.

He also invited the prince to come to watch the 90th Anniversary gang Show to be held in London in a few years’ time.

The Prince told Mr Guy he had never been to a Gang Show and the scout leader told him how his sister Princess Anne had been to one of the shows he had organised several years ago.

Mr Guy joined the Blackpool Scouts more than 70 years ago and he started the Warwickshire Gang Show in 1971 and it still takes place annually.

In 1982, Mr Guy led 400 Scouts and leaders to stage WAGS in Dallas and Forth Worth, Texas, and featured in a television documentary about the trip named Dallas or Bust.
