Warnings issued after recent Kenilworth burglaries

A bungalow in Lime Grove was broken into on Tuesday May 3 with signs of crude entry, meaning it was unlikely to have been a professional job.

Cash and jewellery was taken, and a cushion cover found in the house was used to store the items.

The owner was away at the time, and the burglary was reported by a neighbour.

Before this, a vacant bungalow in Rounds Hill was broken into and reported on Thursday April 27.

Kenilworth beat manager Caine Pickering said the two burglaries were probably connected, and issued advice to residents on how to keep their belongings safe while away.

He said: “In recent offences the houses have been left unattended for protracted periods of time. If you are away from your home please consider what methods you can use to make your home look inhabited.

“This could include using lights on a timer, getting a neighbour to keep an eye on the house, keeping a car on the driveway, drawing curtains and collecting post.”
