Long-time Warwick campaigner Nigel Hamilton believes the time has come for a new group to be formed specifically to protect the interests of the publicly-owned St Mary’s Lands - partly occupied by Warwick Racecourse.
Mr Hamilton, whose home in Hampton Street overlooks the land, admits he has a personal “vested interest” in the site.
Along with others he was prominent in the fight to stop a hotel being built in 2012.
District councillors rejected the racecourse’s hotel application but since then have financially contributed to a report commissioned by The Jockey Club on a future land management plan.
Consultants GVA Leisure seem to have pleased few people with their recommendations - especially after putting a hotel back on the agenda.

n In a linked dispute, trustees of Racing Club Warwick, who are stakeholders in the land, were yesterday (Thursday) told they would finally be issued with a new lease.
