District planners are to be asked to consider an application for a new 200-space car parking space for Warwick Hospital workers.
Land has been identified adjacent to the Pickering Perforated Products factory in Millers Road which could provide space - provided councillors agree to its change of use from industrial land.
Town and county councillor John Holland (Lab, Warwick West) said he thought it was an excellent plan and hoped to see the change of use application agreed. Like many councillors he regularly received complaints about the the number of cars clogging residential streets in the town.
The belief is that several vehicles are owned by hospital workers while in more recent months other parked cars are from the increased numbers of county council workers who have transferred to the centre of Warwick.
Cllr Holland said: “We are very proud of our hospital but it wants to be a good neighbour and parking has been an issue for some years. Local residents will welcome this.”
