The sun shined down on Hill Close Gardens in Warwick over the May bank holiday weekend, as the site opened its doors for a Victorian-themed event over the three days.
Visitors were able to enjoy auricula plant displays and learn about Victorian plant hunters Charles Maries and Ernest Wilson, who discovered new plant species through travelling across the world. The gardens also displayed Victorian garden machinery and demonstrations of 19th century methods of pest control, while the site’s cafe was open for tea and cakes throughout the weekend.
Today (Friday May 9) at 2.30pm there is a free head gardener’s guided tour of the gardens (normal admission charge applies). To find out about other upcoming events at Hill Close, which is now open every day from 11am to 5pm until October, call 493339 or visit www.hillclosegardens.com
