Another attempt to resolve the seemingly never-ending saga of St Mary’s Lands at the racecourse will be made by Warwick District Council.
At Wednesday’s executive committee meeting it was agreed that three councillors - one from each political party - along with two town councillors will serve on a new working party.
Over at the town council some members were unhappy that the district will use the findings of the recent study by GVA Leisure as a starting point for discussion.
That suggested a budget hotel at the course.
But Cllr Michael Kinson (Con, Warwick West) said: “Don’t GVA know that lots of Warwick hotels will be very badly affected if a new budget one springs up on the racecourse.”
Two local Premier Inns had opened since the report was produced.
Town councillors say the new working party should this time make better efforts to include more people, including residents of the Forbes estate and other stakeholders.
