Teams made up of students aged between 15 and 17 from several schools in the county set up companies last year as part of charity Young Enterprise’s Company Programme.

The teams had to think of a product, conduct market research, bring the product to market and sell it to the public before presenting their results to judges at the Central Warwickshire Area Final in Warwick on Tuesday April 19.

The best two teams, Alacrity and Elevate, made up of students from Kings High and Warwick School, will now go on to the county final in May after impressing the judges the most.

Will Button, managing director of Elevate, said: “I have learnt so much from taking part in this year’s Young Enterprise scheme and being managing director of Team Elevate.

“Learning new business and management skills will be very beneficial to me for my future career prospects and I am very proud of the product ‘Joey’ that my team have produced.”

Judge David Magnall, a project manager Seco Tools, said: “After three years as a business advisor and this year as a judge, I never cease to be amazed by the ingenuity and creativity displayed by the teams involved.

“With so many negative stereotypes portraying the youth of today it is an inspiration to see so much positivity and entrepreneurial spirit.”
