More than 400 people gathered for an open day at the recently finished Chase Meadow Community Centre - which will also double as a place of worship - last Saturday.
The long-awaited centre is now under the local management of the Chase Meadow Centre Partners, a group which includes residents and members of nearby St Michael’s church in Budbrooke, who helped so much to push the project forward.
District councillor Moira-Ann Grainger, who is responsible for corporate and community services, said: “We are delighted to have worked with the partners and St Michael’s church to bring this invaluable resource to the Chase Meadow community.
“We expect it to become a hub - bringing everyone on the Chase Meadow development closer together - and the wider community too.”
Several organisations have already booked up to deliver activities in the large public meeting room and church space. There is also a separate sports hall, cafe and three smaller meeting rooms.
