Cheri Bickley’s dog Phoebe was attacked by a stray cat and suffered from numerous injuries including having her eye clawed out.

Suffering from Hyperglycemia, being unable to eat and an inflamed liver and pancreas, the money raised by the GoFundMe campaign will go towards the veterinary bill and overnight stays in the animal hospital that Phoebe desperately needs.

Cheri, 28, of Sherbourne, said “She’s hanging on, but is far from stable yet and this is where my problem lies.

“Phoebe can’t eat by herself or keep food down, so she needs to be re-admitted to hospital in their intensive care unit for between five and seven days until the correct amount of insulin is able to stabilize her, but I just can’t afford the hospital and vet bills right now.

Cheri added: “I’m a very independent lady and I don’t like having to ask for help, but I’m desperate to save my little Phoebe.

“I knew Phoebe’s condition was worse than the PDSA made it out to be, and because of this I had to see a private vet and pay enormous bills.

“The GoFundMe page has raised £110 so far, but there’s still a long way to go.

“I just cannot bring myself to consider the prospect and grief of letting Phoebe die. I simply couldn’t manage without her.”

Phoebe was rescued from a neglectful home by owner Cheri, and it wasn’t long before her caring and loving nature shined, when Phoebe began producing milk for the two kittens Cheri brought home, turning herself into a makeshift mother cat.

Kelsea Little, spokesperson for GoFundMe.com said: ““We wish little Phoebe all the best on her road to recovery, and hope that Cheri’s community will continue to support her campaign during this stressful time.”
