Hundreds of children and their parents are expected to descend on Edmonscote Athletics Club for the third annual Kids Run Free Festival of Running on July 12.

The event is organised by the Leamington-based charity Kids Run Free, which funds free competitive running events for children once a month at ten locations across the Midlands and in London - and all those who take part in these areas will be invited to the festival in Leamington.

As well as plenty of activities and games, the day will give children the opportunity to complete their Kids Marathon challenges and there will be an inter-school competition to see which school can clock up the largest distance run on the day.

Any children from walking age up to 16 of any running ability can take part in Kids Run Free races - both at the festival and at monthly events. At the festival, parents and their children are asked to arrive at 9.45am, ready to start the first race at 10am. The Kids Marathon events will run from 11am to noon, followed by presentations of certificates to those who have completed their marathons from noon to 12.30pm. There will be races, games, activities and food ongoing between 10am and 1pm.

The parents of any children wishing to take part in the day’s events must register beforehand at www.kidsrunfree.co.uk

The next Kids Run Free event in Leamington takes place at Newbold Comyn pavilion on July 5 at 9am. To find out more, go online or email [email protected]
