The planting of 32 new trees in Kenilworth by charity Warwick Tree Wardens was completed on Tuesday February 23 when the last tree was planted in John O’Gaunt Road.

County Councillor Alan Cockburn was allocated £2,500 of his personal county budget to go towards the scheme, which was matched by Kenilworth Round Table.

He said: “They kindly match funded the £2,500, which is great. I think they deserve a pat on the back.”

Cllr Cockburn also hopes residents will come forward next year to allow a tree to be planted outside their own home.

“I hope to be given the same amount next year and I will be asking Round Table to match the funding again.” Trees were also planted in Fishponds Road, Farmer Ward Road and The Gardens as part of the scheme.
