Kenilworth market cancelled due to fears over Storm Doris

There will be no market in Kenilworth tomorrow (Thursday February 23) due to safety fears brought about by bad weather from Storm Doris.

High winds are expected tomorrow, with gusts potentially reaching 60mph or higher.

Jamie Walker of CJ’s Events Warwickshire Limited, who run the market, said: “After liaising with Warwick District Council we have unfortunately come to the decision to cancel tomorrow’s market due to the forecast of high winds. We are concerned with such strong winds forecasted.”

“This decision hasn’t been taken lightly and whilst we appreciate that this will leave traders and members of the public disappointed, our overriding concern will always be the safety of the public, traders and our staff.

Traders will be contacted by the market manager this morning to inform them of this decision.”

The market is expected to return as usual on Thursday March 2.
