Join in the friendly competition at Warwick library

A successful games club has been launched at Warwick Library for all those who enjoy a bit of competition but don’t necessarily have a willing opponent.

The chance to play chess, draughts, Scrabble, Cluedo and Monopoly can be made available at any time says
librarian Bev Cox.

But thanks to a couple of volunteers, she has now set up a fortnightly club for like-minded people who are due to meet today (Fri) and on other set dates, to play between 10am and noon.

Bev said: “We’ve been surprised how popular the new club has been with people of all ages turning up to have a go.”

Volunteer Jean Casey, who is retired, has been pleased to help set up the games and get people into groups which she has seen is a very good way of making new friends.

All the sessions are free and after today’s club meeting the next are on May 23, then June 6 and 20 and July 4 and 18.

But those wanting to get into practice ahead of those sessions can simply drop in.
