An historic Warwick band which has recently reformed is set to play at the Kenilworth Music Festival in September.

Warwick Community Band, who will play in the town centre, was first founded at the turn of the 20th century, but disbanded in 1910.

In 2011, the band reformed after band manager, Ron Everett, was inspired by the BBC show ‘The Choir’ and wanted to revive the band that prided itself on inclusivity, similarly to the singers on the show.

He said: “We don’t hold auditions to play in the band - members can be of any standard.

“It’s for the community and isn’t competitive.”

This is the first time the band will play at the Kenilworth Festival.

Dave Logan, who plays tenor saxophone, said: “The band’s gone from strength to strength and we’re really looking forward to it.”

Anyone wanting to join the band should contact Mr Everett on 01926 492 327.
