South Warwickshire NHS Foundation Trust (SWFT) hold ‘Going the Extra Mile’ (GEM) awards every year, presented to staff in three categories; clinical, non-clinical and team, on a quarterly basis. Nominations can be made by colleagues and members of the public. All winners throughout the year are then automatically entered into the Annual Gem Awards.

Trust chairman Russell Hardy and chief executive Glen Burley presented the awards to the winners, who were: Megan Nannfeldt (clinical), staff nurse on Chadwick Ward at Leamington Spa Hospital for her work mentoring a group of clinical support workers; Carole Maguire (non-clinical), administrator for the Leg Ulcer Clinic for her compassionate and helpful attitude toward patients and colleagues; and the Accident and Emergency (A&E) department at Warwick Hospital (team) for their work in achieving some of the best treatment rates in the country.

Russell Hardy said: “These winners are from a range of roles and disciplines but all are a credit to our organisation and very clearly demonstrate a commitment to our values of delivering safe, effective and compassionate care.”
