Have your say on street lights

PUT your questions and views on street lights to the people behind the decisions at a Warwickshire County Council question and answer session.

Warwickshire County Council’s communities overview scrutiny committee will ask portfolio holders and officers to clarify the scheme and explain the new time changes during the meeting on Tuesday January 15.

The session will be held from 10m on Tuesday at Shire Hall and chance for members of the public and councillors have their questions answered.

Street lights across Warwick District are now switched off between midnight and 5.30am Sunday to Thursday, and 1am to 6.30am Fridays and Saturdays.

Questions can be submitted in advance to daveabbott@warwickshire.gov.uk, or asked on the day at the discretion of the chair.

Cllr John Whitehouse, Chair of the communities overview and scrutiny committee, said: “Elected members want to question the several changes already made to the new scheme within a few weeks of its implementation.

“Responding to public concerns is all very well, but how has this been done and collated, and who has been consulted each time?

“What is the early feedback from the police and other public authorities? Just as importantly, do the early results suggest that the energy cost savings targets will be met?

“It is very important that these and other questions are answered.”
