Good Ofsted report for Trinity Catholic School is silver lining at a challenging time

Two inspectors from the Government department visited the school on January 18 and looked at all elements of the school’s recent and past performance.

They judged that Trinity provides an ‘inclusive and stimulating learning environment’ and that ‘pupils are attentive, work hard, achieve well’ and that ‘their conduct is exemplary’. The school says it has long aspired to be seen as a place that prioritises student well-being and pastoral care, and these efforts have been acknowledged by Ofsted Inspector Graham Tyrer.

He said: “The school is characterised by a commitment to the well-being of each member of the school community where pupils treat others with equal respect and do not accept prejudice.”

Safeguarding was identified as exemplary.

Principal Chris Gabbett was enthusiastic in his praise for staff, students, parents and governors.

He said: “Since I took on the leadership of Trinity in 2012, we have worked hard to create an environment committed to aspiration, hard work, achievement and love.

“To have our 2013 ‘Good’ judgement consolidated under an Ofsted framework as challenging as the current one is a really considerable achievement.

“I’d like to think that we offer the Warwickshire community something really special and this report backs that up”.

Mr Gabbett said the Ofsted report makes current proposals to close the school’s sixth form - which was also praised by the inspectors - seem ‘counter intuitive’ but that funding pressures have put the school in an “untenable position.”
