Driver flees scene with broken ankle - leaving lorry driver trapped after crash between Princethorpe and Ryton

A lorry driver has been taken to hospital after a crash between Princethorpe and Ryton.
Emergency services were called out at around 12.45am on Friday morning (August 28) to a crash on the A423 Oxford Road between Princethorpe and Ryton.
The crash involved a white Mercedes and a lorry.

Hide AdThe Mercedes driver, who fled the scene, was found nearby and arrested after providing a 'positive roadside breath test'.
A spokesperson from OPU Warwickshire said: "The driver of the Mercedes made off from the scene and was arrested nearby after providing a positive roadside breath test.
"The Mercedes driver also sustained a broken ankle.
"With assistance from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue and West Midlands Ambulance service the driver of the lorry was freed from his cab after being mechanically trapped.
"The lorry driver sustained an injury to his back. Both vehicles recovered from the scene. The investigation is ongoing."

Hide AdA spokesperson from West Midlands Ambulance Service said: "Crews assessed the driver of the lorry, a man, who had sustained injuries not believed to be serious.
"He was taken to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment."
A spokesperson from Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service said: "Two crews attended the scene and found that the driver of the HGV was physically trapped in the cab of his vehicle.
"The car involved in the incident was in a ditch and its occupants had fled the scene.
"Crews were detained at the scene for around 30 minutes."
