The family pet suffered a significant injury as a result of the attack by the cross breed - which had light brown hair and black markings on its back - which took place near St Paul’s School at about 12.40pm.

The woman walking the dog has been described as being in her early 20s, with brown shoulder length hair, sunken cheekbones and wearing a blue jacket, blue jeans, and a blue beret-style hat.

Small children were present during the incident and the woman offered no apology.
