Dad crawls up Mt Snowdon - while pushing a sprout with his nose

A self proclaimed ‘mad fool’ has taken his wacky fundraising to the next level by pushing a sprout all the way up Mount Snowdon with his nose.

Stuart Kettell will spend up to five days on his hands and knees climbing the Welsh peak in the latest obscure challenge for Macmillan Cancer Support.

Due to finish tomorrow (Saturday) the Balsall Common father-of-three is expected to have got through hundreds of Brussels sprouts in his eighth massive effort for the charity.

Armed only with padding for his knees, elbows and face, he set off on Wednesday in what he described as his maddest fundraiser to date.

And after training by pushing a sprout round his garden and a half-mile trial run on the mountain, Stuart feared he may not finish until Sunday.

“This is the maddest craziest challenge I’ve come up with so far,” he said.

“It has never been attempted before, and I wonder why!

“I’ve calculated it will take around four to five days and it is very rough terrain with slate and rocks and steps.

“I have very sore knees and elbows already, but I’m going to do it.”

The trial run showed that Stuart could cover just one tenth of a mile in 50 minutes - making the gruelling challenge even harder.

He will also need countless sprouts - which have been donated by Sainbury’s after the supermarket reportedly had to source then from Morocco at the unusual time of year.

Stuart, who has just passed the £40,000 mark for the charity through his wacky challenges, said this is just the next step in what he knows will be a long-running adventure.

“I’m not going to stop and my challenges are going to get wackier, today just proves it,” said the cameraman.

Stuart put the idea down to a suggestion from a friend and said after hearing it, simply could not get it out of his head.

As well as protection for his face, Stuart has been carrying camping equipment to get him through the adventure and will be filmed along the way to document his journey and prove he did not cheat.

Stuart has been fundraising for Macmillan Cancer Support for nine years with activities including walking every street in Coventry on stilts and ‘levitating’.

Inspired by the charity’s work with families and patients, he said it is all about raising more and more money to help the cause.
