Warwick Lions Club has recognised the hard work of a Cubbington teenager by presenting her with a Young Leaders in Service Gold Award.

Trinity School pupil Sylvie Ward, 15, has given more than 100 hours of service to St Mark’s Rainbows over the last 12 months.

Sylvie, who is also a member of Cubbington Rangers, has been involved in many activities including a PGL weekend away and the Warwickshire Rainbow County Day.

She started off as a Rainbow Guide before going on to be a Brownie at Lillington Free church and later joining the Rangers.

Sylvie has been selected to represent Warwickshire Girl Guides at the 23rd World Scout Jamboree in Japan this summer and has been busy fundraising for the trip.

She will depart in late July joining over 4,000 Scouts and Guides from the UK and more than 30,000 young people from all over the world in Kirara-hama, Yamaguchi City.

Sylvie will have the opportunity to immerse herself in Japanese culture, explore the latest developments in science and technology and help to raise awareness of global issues such as the environment and human rights.
