A man has been sentenced to 18 months in prison after he injured a Warwickshire Police officer with an air gun.

Stuart Gee appeared at Warwick Crown Court on Wednesday August 5.

The 21- year-old, of Oversetts Road, Newhall, Swadlincote, was sentenced to 18 months in prison after pleading guilty to possessing a firearm at the time of committing an offence.

The incident occurred on Sunday April 5 and resulted in a police sergeant from Bedworth being hit by a pellet from the air-gun, causing minor injury.

The investigating officer said: “We are pleased with the sentence Gee has received. This sentencing shows that we take any form of violence against our officers and staff seriously.”
