More roadworks ahead for beleaguered Warwick
JUST as Warwick starts to market itself better with the fresh bid to catch Mary Portas’s attention and £16,000 worth of local authority funding, yet another road scheme is about to start.
Severn Trent will begin a 12-week flood alleviation scheme next month which will lead to the closure of the A445 Emscote Road between Pickard Street and Broad Street.
More resurfacing work is also needed on the High Street-Jury Street main road in the centre of town which had to be hastily finished to cope with mounting complaints from shopkeepers and ahead of the arrival of the Olympic torch.
Sarah-Jayne O’Kane, a spokeswoman for Severn Trent said: “We are talking to local businesses to see how we can limit any impact on them, and we will be sending letters out to local residents explaining what is happening shortly.
“Work will begin on August 13 and the road closure will be in place for 12 weeks.
She added: “All work is due to be completed before Christmas.”
